    Ron Ten Berge came from a childhood of outdoor sports. It makes sense then, that he loves hunting and fishing. But golf is his favorite sport because of the less competitive edge the sport possesses. It isn’t that the sport isn’t a competitive one, it is.


    It is more that the thing you are competing against isn’t your fellow player, it is the golf course itself. This makes for deeper bonds between players. Ron Ten was only twenty-three when he entered a management position at the largest distribution center in the world working for Frito Lay, and they had just undergone a union organization attempt.


    Ron Ten Berge had twelve guys working for him who were much older and much more experienced than him.
